【About the Marine Acoustics Society of Japan】

The Marine Acoustics Society of Japan (MASJ) was established in 1973 with the aim of promoting marine acoustics through investigations and research on technologies related to marine acoustics, thereby contributing to the advancement of ocean development, utilization, and conservation.

The Society currently consists of approximately 330 individual members and about 30 supporting corporate members. In September 2004, MASJ was certified as a Specified Nonprofit Corporation (NPO). Since then, it has been actively engaged in research and surveys on marine acoustic phenomena and their applications, the exchange of information, and the dissemination of knowledge in this field.

【Main Activities】

1. Publication of the Journal of the Marine Acoustics Society of Japan, books such as Fundamentals and Applications of Marine Acoustics, and reports summarizing research and survey results conducted by various technical committees.
2. Organization of research presentation meetings, lectures, seminars, symposia, discussion meetings, and technical training courses.
3. Operation of technical committees conducting research and surveys related to marine acoustic technologies.
4. Presentation of awards for outstanding research papers and achievements that have contributed to the advancement of marine acoustics.
5. Promotion of international exchange, including surveys of cutting-edge technologies overseas.

【Main Benefits of Membership】

1. Members can access the Journal of the Marine Acoustics Society of Japan via the Society’s website and are eligible to submit papers to the journal.
2. Members may attend and present at research meetings and other events organized by the Society.
3. Members may participate in technical committees, interact with leading researchers and engineers, and gain exposure to state-of-the-art technologies.

• To apply for membership, download the membership application form (membership card) from the link below, complete it, and submit it to the Academy Center by e-mail to the contact address provided at the bottom of this page.

【Membership Fees】

• The annual membership fees are as follows:
• Individual Member: JPY 6,000
• The fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.
• Members joining during the fiscal year are required to pay the full annual membership fee.
